From the moment you arrive at Makati Medical Center, you become part of our tradition of good medicine. Since our doors opened in 1969, our mission has been to provide our patients—you—with the highest quality health care.
We welcome you to the Philippines and to Makati Med. Mabuhay! Rest assured that at Makati Med, no request is too big for us to accomplish—or too small for you to feel that it is trivial.
While you are still in your home country, get in touch with our Patient Relations Office by email at patient_relations@makatimed.net.ph or call +632 8888 999 loc. 2132. Our Patient Relations Office will do these and other things to prepare for your stay with us, and make your stay a pleasant healing experience:
Depending on the arrangements you’ve made beforehand, you may come to the hospital by yourself. Or, the Patient Relations team member assigned to you can pick you up from the airport.
if you came by yourself, as soon as you arrive at the hospital, the Patient Relations team member assigned to you will walk you through your Admission.
Prepare your personal information, such as your current address, phone number, and employer. Also organize your health information—your condition, your medical records, the medications you are taking and information regarding HMO or other insurance benefits. Most importantly, plan your payment arrangements.
As soon as you are admitted, we assign a team of highly qualified and experienced physicians to your health care.
A lead doctor, called the “Primary Attending Physician” is responsible and in charge of your overall care. He/she requests the tests you need for an accurate diagnosis of your illness or condition, prescribes the simultaneous management that the other specialists will undertake, and orders your overall treatment.
Throughout your hospital stay, you will be cared for 24/7 by competent, dedicated and caring nurses. They plan and implement your daily care, coordinate the various aspects of your treatment with your doctors, and administer the medications you need. They also ensure that your needs are communicated clearly and promptly to your doctors. Know that Makati Med nurses are among the world's best caregivers.
To ensure that all nursing services are efficiently carried out 24/7, Makati Med relies on a cellular organizational structure made up of autonomous but interdependent nursing units. Each nursing unit is expected to carry out various administrative and clinical functions that are meant to meet your needs and exceed your expectations.
Each nursing unit has an adequate number of nurses, nursing aids and orderlies. It is headed by a Head Nurse. To ensure the smooth operation of this huge organization, the Department Manager also makes daily rounds—and may even pay you a visit during your stay. For concerns about our Nursing Services, you may speak with the Head Nurse at +632 8888 999 local 7137.
Should you request for one, our Nursing Services Office may help arrange a private duty nurse. Your request is subject to the availability of nurses, and you will also be asked to fill out a request form, which indicates the rates. Please settle the costs of private duty nurses with the nurse herself. For more information, please call the Private Duty Nurse Association Office at +632 8888 999 local 7137
Various other Makati Med health care professionals contribute to your wellbeing. Radiology technologists, medical physicists, physical therapists, occupational therapists—these are just some of the other professionals who coordinate and cooperate with your care team to make you feel, and get, better.
A team of registered clinical nutritionist-dieticians also works closely with your doctors and nurses to ensure that you are put under a food program that is appropriate for your nutritional needs and medical condition. This is particularly critical when the right food, or a restriction of certain foods, is an integral aspect of your treatment.
For dietary concerns and preferences, and inquiries about your dietary plan, please contact your nurse(s), and a member of our Dietary Unit will visit you.
Preparing for Discharge
Your doctor will decide when you are ready to leave the hospital. Your doctor, nurse and other members of your care team will work with you to plan the care you will need when you are discharged. If you will be needing services such as nursing or therapy at home, or equipment such as beds or oxygen, the Patient Relations Office can help you arrange these.
Taking Medications At Home
If you are given prescriptions for medications to be taken at home, you will need to have them filled either at Makati Med’s pharmacy, or at a pharmacy of your choice.
