Training procedures implemented at Makati Med are considered the standard in the country and in many parts of Asia. Our training is one of the most sought-after programs among medical school graduates, Filipino and from other parts of the world. The quest to find better care and cures for many illnesses and diseases is a never ending one.

Makati Med is home to one of the country’s major medical research programs, spanning important areas of medicine, such as emergency medicine, surgery, cardiology, pediatrics, nephrology and other fields.

Every year, Makati Med publishes the Makati Medical Center Proceedings, a journal that compiles the research and medical experiments done by its staff.

We nurture a culture of evidence-based medicine.

At Makati Medical Center, we believe that our clinical medical research is actually at par—and in some cases even quicker—than in the United States.

There, medical research is restricted by lobbies, laws, confidentiality problems, and insurance companies that regulate the healthcare industry. Talent in medical field is divided between top universities who do not nurture a culture of collaboration.

In contrast, Makati Med has nurtured such a culture for years. Our medical teleconferences for instance, which we hold monthly, are open to physicians and specialists from other hospitals—even those who are our business competitors.

In the US, a tradition of “ super specialization” has emerged in medicine, and this has caused a “silo-mentality” where clinical applications and healthcare practices at the bedside are disconnected from new findings in medical research.

At Makati Medical Center we have instituted a multidisciplinary approach to treating conditions and ailments. The research done by our own Medical Education department is quickly translated, when deemed ethical, to the care of our patients.
