Our Pharmacy Services staff work tirelessly, in close collaboration with the different medical departments, nursing services and dietary department to meet your needs.
We were the first hospital in the Philippines to adopt patient-focused Clinical Pharmacy—pioneering in the practice of assigning clinical pharmacists to patient care and giving them an active role in the healthcare team. Today, most leading healthcare institutions have followed our way.

Clinical Pharmacy Services
Our clinical pharmacists cover all standard nursing units—including ICU-CC, perform all medication-related functions, emphasizing rational drug use. We provide accurate interpretation of your doctor’s orders, medication order review, drug use review, monitoring of your drug therapy, unit dose dispensing, assistance during counseling, pulmonary resuscitation and patient counseling. Clinical pharmacists, available from 8amto10pm daily, coordinate and collaborate with all members of your health care team.
Intravenous (IV) Admixture Services
Our specially-trained IV pharmacists prepare intravenous admixture solutions under strict aseptic conditions. Intravenous admixtures include parenteral and anti-neoplastic (food and medicine) preparations. We utilize a laminar flowhood to prepare parenteral nutrition and anti-neoplastic solutions in a class 100 environment. Our services are 24/7.
Inpatient Drug Distribution Services
Our in-patient pharmacy staff provides unit dose dispensing services to all in-patients 24/7. We review medication orders carefully and verify these before we dispense medications. All medications are dispensed by our licensed pharmacists through an individual order system. Our in-patient pharmacists also conduct skin tests preparations for both inpatients and outpatients to prevent drug allergies from occurring.
Outpatient Drug Distribution Services
Our outpatient pharmacy serves ambulatory and home care patients. Our pharmacists guide patients to make the best use of their medication through proper drug intake, handling, transport, and storage. We are open seven days a week, from 6 am to 9 pm.
Drug Information Services
Through our Drug Information Services, we provide doctors, nurses, patients, and other members of your healthcare team the medication information that they need. We compile volumes of data from our own research, as well as from updated references such as journals, computer databases, textbooks, and current issues of American Hospital Formulatory Service Drug Information. Our service is available from 9am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday.
Education and Training
At Makati Medical Center, we train both undergraduates and postgraduate students. In addition, we conduct seminars and lectures as part of our regular in-house training for our staff. You may contact our education and training manager from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Outpatient Oncology Pharmacy
Our out-patient oncology pharmacist prepares anti-neoplastic medications needed for the specific chemotherapy of our ambulatory patients. You may avail of our counseling and patient education services about the side effects and benefits of medicines from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday at the Oncology Clinic, Room 700.
Extemporaneous Compounding Services
Special formulations prescribed by doctors are compounded extemporaneously for patients with specific needs. Compounding services are available from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Central Sterile Supply
Our Central Sterile Supply procures, processes, and sterilizes surgical instruments, equipment and supplies. Medical gasses such as oxygen, compressed air and nitrogen are also provided at CSS. Sterilization service is available 24 hours, Monday to Saturday, and from 6am to 10pm during Sundays and holidays. The issuing area is open from 6am to 10pm daily.
Inventory Control Services
At Makati Med, rest assured that our medicines are always available and always fresh. Our Department is affiliated with leading pharmaceutical and drug companies, making it easier for us to maintain a ready supply of needed medicines. We have an online purchasing and ordering system that utilizes the just-in time ordering method, where the stock and inventory is measured against use and consumption levels, ensuring that we have just the right amount of stock when we need it—nothing more, nothing less.
