This section is now equipped with the latest Transanal Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization (THD) machine for quick recovery and painless treatment of prolapsing and/or bleeding haemorrhoid.

Ear, Nose, Throat – Head & Neck (ENT-HNS) Surgery

This section of medicine encompasses a variety of subspecialties namely, Otology (ear), Rhinology (nose), Laryngology (voice, phonation and upper airway), Bronchoesophagology (airway) and swallowing, MaxilloFacial Surgery (facial fractures), Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (facial defects) and Head and Neck Surgery (cancer of the head and neck).

The medical staff have specialty trainings in these various fields in the Philippines and abroad, with on-going continued medical education to give proper, modern treatment to patients in need. With these expertise, the department not only treats the simple ear, nose, and throat diseases, but extends to endoscopic hearing rehabilitation, reconstructive facial surgery of fractures, defects and even tumor extirpation of head and neck cancer cases. This section has multiple sub-specialties for the diseases of the head and neck area.
Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Biliary Surgery

Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Biliary (HPB) surgeries often demand the most challenging surgical procedures involving disorders of the liver, bile ducts, gall bladder and pancreas. Such advanced and complicated surgical procedures require exceptional competence that the experienced HPB surgeons provide to the patients of MakatiMed. Our HPB surgeons have been in the forefront of aggressive yet safe liver surgeries in the country.

This section has a vast experience in various onerous procedures such as extended and limited liver resections (both open & laparoscopic) for benign and malignant conditions of the liver, biliary & vascular reconstructions for biliary tract cancers, choledochal cysts, biliary strictures. Likewise, advanced pancreatic resections such as Whipple’s procedure for pancreatic cancer, and laparoscopic splenectomies for some hematologic indications are some of the other challenging procedures that this section can offer.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
This section performs anywhere from a single to multiple sub-centimeter incisions on the patient. Key hole surgery, as it is sometimes referred to, offers advantages to patients in terms of minimal trauma resulting to less pain, minimal scars, and faster recovery. Fiberoptic camera is used to visualize intra-abdominal structures with accuracy and precision allowing for a safer surgery, as well as minimal stress to body tissue, organs and muscles. Patients are usually sent home the following day and are able to return to work in less than a week.

The procedures are:
  • Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
  • Laparoscopic Appendectomy
  • Laparoscopic Hernia Repair (Inguinal, Ventral)
  • Laparoscopic Hepatobiliary Surgery (Liver)
  • Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery
  • Laparoscopic Solid Organ Surgery (Pancreas, Spleen, Kidney)
  • Laparoscopic Endocrine Surgery (Thyroid, Adrenal)
  • Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery

The Section offers surgical and non-surgical treatment for traumatic brain injuries, neoplastic and vascular diseases of the brain, and congenital cranial and spinal defects. It also caters to spine procedures and peripheral nerve surgery. A minimally invasive Radiosurgery procedure is also being applied by the section in the treatment of benign or malignant tumors of the brain. The section is well complemented with the latest neurosurgical instruments within the highest standard of technology such as NeuroSpine Navigation System, latest Leica Operating Microscope, Cranial endoscopes, and instruments for minimally invasive surgery. All consultants of the section are bonafide members of the Academy of Filipino Neurosurgeons, the only recognized society by the Philippine College of Surgeons and the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies.
